New drawing added! 1968 El Camino SS
I drew this 1968 Chevy El Camino SS a while back. The car came standard with a blacked-out grille, bulging hood, and a big-block 396 V-8.
The El Camino–which is Spanish for “the road”–is an interesting vehicle, since it’s half car, half truck. This concept dates back to 1932 when Ford Australia became the first company to produce what they called a coupe/utility pickup. The inspiration for this unique invention came from a farmer’s wife, who wrote a letter asking for a vehicle to go to church on Sundays and carry their pigs to market on Mondays. It’s a pretty versatile car.
