The Munster Koach and the Drag-u-la

The Munsters

Car Lust had a great article on the Munster Koach and the Drag-u-la this week.

The Munster Koach and the Drag-u-la were created by George Barris for the TV show called The Munsters.

In the article, the engine for the Koach is a 300-horsepower 289 Ford Cobra V-8 and the Drag-u-la has a 289 with 350-horsepower.

Both of these custom cars can be seen together in the episode titled “Hot Rod Herman”. “Hot Rod Herman” is one of my favorite “Munsters” episodes and one of the first TV shows I purchased for my iPod.

I saw today that the BatSmart concept car that I blogged about earlier which was featured at the 2008 SEMA Show is now for sale on eBay. Per the eBay description George Barris, the designer of the original Bat Mobile, acted as a consultant to Hurley Motorsports who built the concept.

Check out the BatSmart auction on eBay, currently it’s at $8500 (Reserve not met) with 16 bids.

It looks like Batman now has a gas-saver to run around Gotham.

BatSmart by George Barris

George Barris is showing his new “smart” concept of the Batmobile at the 2008 SEMA show this week. Based on the popular SmartCar, I guess Batman could use it driving around picking up parts for all his cool tiny gadgets.

I grew up a big fan of the 1960’s TV show and I’m a big fan of George’s work. I once met him at a World of Wheels show.
