Hudson Car Logo Art

This is finished art of a Hudson car logo. In a previous post I wrote that I was so focused on getting a good up-close photograph of this logo that I forgot to make a note about the car.

After some research on different Hudson models I think the car was a 1953 Hudson Hornet. I say that because there is good image of a 1953 Hudson Hornet on Jay Leno’s Garage website plus another site and you’ll notice a similar pattern of line work in the chrome around the logo.

The artwork is 18 x 24.

1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner Artwork

This is new artwork I did of a 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner. (You can see an in-progress image of this artwork on a previous post.) I like two-tone paint and side chrome treatment on these cars. The size of the artwork is 18 x 24. Below is an image showing some of the detail.

I found this cool commercial on YouTube called “Two Fords” that showcases the new 1956 Fords for that year.

Elvis Presley “If I Can Dream” Artwork

I am a huge fan of Elvis Presley and have been since I can remember. I have been to Graceland once and would love to go back again.

This artwork is of Elvis when he sang “If I Can Dream” on his ’68 Comeback Special.

I tried to limit the detail in the artwork as much as possible, only keeping what was needed to follow his facial features. I did everything in black and white, later adding to the background the red “ELVIS” signage.

This is different from the rest of my automotive artwork but something I’ve been wanting to do. Below is a video of his “If I Can Dream” performance. I hope you enjoy it, it is one of my favorites.

Quail Radiator Ornament Artwork

This is new artwork of a Ford Model A quail radiator ornament. Below is a close-up image of the quail. Earlier I posted an “in progress” image which shows the line work.

I found some interesting information online about the quail ornament. On Slant’s website they say that the flying quail on the hood of the 1928 Ford Model A, was one of the first ornamental radiator caps for Slant and that Mr. Ford supervised every step of the design.

I also found in the book “The Legendary Model A Ford: The Ultimate History of One of America’s Great” by Peter Winnewisser, Peter writes, “Included among the accessories was the famous quail radiator cap selling for $3 and designed to represent “quail in flight, symbolizing the quick acceleration of the Ford car.”

Hanging Out With The Big Boys

Steve at All American Dynamics sent me an e-mail to show me how his new logo compared with the big boys.

He sent me a link to Purdue University’s website. On their website is a page showing the corporate partners for the Industrial Advisory Board. Sandwiched in between the Ford logo and Honeywell logo you’ll see the All American Dynamics logo.

Not only is it impressive to see the logo you designed with these big names, but is also impressive to see someone you know on such a board. Very cool, Steve!

All American Dynamics Logo

This is the logo I created for All American Dynamics.

Steve Lyman, the Founder and President of All American Dynamics, asked me to come up with a new logo and business card layout for his business. Steve and I know each other from the work I did on the Performance Truck Of The Year print.

The goal was to tie the wording “All American Dynamics” with what they do which is vehicle dynamics. The “All American” lettering speaks for itself, the challenge was finding an element that gave “Dynamics” an automotive feel.

To get that automotive feel I used thick bold lettering along with an silhouette of car on top. To help complete the look I used motion lines stretching the length of the lettering. In the original concept I used a generic sports-type car but after reviewing Steve had a great suggestion and that was to do the silhouette based on his Lotus formula car. The Lotus silhouette was the perfect finishing touch.

I also put together a new business card layout.

It was great working with Steve on this project. His experience includes vehicle development engineer, test driver, vehicle dynamics department manager, vehicle dynamics specialist, and vehicle dynamics executive consultant.

See the All American Dynamics website for a list of services they offer.

Hot Rod Halloween Shirt Designs

These Hot Rod Halloween shirt designs are from the stencils I designed and posted about earlier. While drawing the pumpkins stencils I got the idea that these would also look great on t-shirts.
