All American Dynamics Logo

This is the logo I created for All American Dynamics.

Steve Lyman, the Founder and President of All American Dynamics, asked me to come up with a new logo and business card layout for his business. Steve and I know each other from the work I did on the Performance Truck Of The Year print.

The goal was to tie the wording “All American Dynamics” with what they do which is vehicle dynamics. The “All American” lettering speaks for itself, the challenge was finding an element that gave “Dynamics” an automotive feel.

To get that automotive feel I used thick bold lettering along with an silhouette of car on top. To help complete the look I used motion lines stretching the length of the lettering. In the original concept I used a generic sports-type car but after reviewing Steve had a great suggestion and that was to do the silhouette based on his Lotus formula car. The Lotus silhouette was the perfect finishing touch.

I also put together a new business card layout.

It was great working with Steve on this project. His experience includes vehicle development engineer, test driver, vehicle dynamics department manager, vehicle dynamics specialist, and vehicle dynamics executive consultant.

See the All American Dynamics website for a list of services they offer.

Illuminati Concept Car – Latest Edition

This is the latest art edition of the Illuminati Concept Car.

In this version the correct headlights were added along with a pair of chrome front bumpers. At the back there were adjustments made to flatten the rear, also added is the car’s number “77”.

When you compare the previous version below with the new version above you can see the differences.

The latest news is that they are now officially one of 13 teams left in the Mainstream Class. They are also one of only 3 all electric cars is that class.

See the Progressive Automotive X Prize website for more information about this event.

Flashback Cruz Art

This is the artwork for the 25th Anniversary Flashback Cruz which is held in Bend, Oregon.

Progressive Screen Printing contacted me about creating the artwork for their client the Central Oregon Classic Chevy Club.

All the base artwork was created in Illustrator then brought into Photoshop for additional detail and depth. Below is the Illustrator version of the main car which is also the winner of last year’s show.

Progressive was great to work with, they gave me all the details on what elements the client wanted in the design. The artwork was used for shirts and posters.

Speedstar Vicky Concept Revisited

This is the back view and now new front view of the Speedstar Vicky concept car. The Speedstar Vicky is one of three concepts I did for a Rod & Custom Magazine article some time ago.

Since then I have received a lot of emails from people asking what the front end looks like?

I have always had in mind what I wanted to do for the front but never seemed to find the time. But as the emails came in I started thinking more about it and decided to work it in between some other projects.

Illuminati Motor Works Concept Car – Taking Shape

The guys over at Illuminati Motor Works have uploaded a new video showing how the concept car “Seven” is taking shape. The way they describe the building process it reminds me of the way Ed “Big Daddy” Roth use to build his Show Cars.

Read about the concept artwork I created for Illuminati Motor Works.

Amazing Scale Model Photography

This is a photo from Michael Paul Smith’s photo set on Flickr. What’s impressive about this photo is that the cars and the buildings are models. He takes these amazing photos of car models without the help of Photoshop. He says he uses the oldest trick in the special effects book and that is to line up the model with an appropriate background.

See the rest of his photos here on his slideshow.
