Cool Hot Rod Couch

hot-rod-couch

This has to be one of the coolest couches I have seen. I came across it today on one of my news feeds. This one of a kind automotive couch is entirely hand made in metal with sunset orange pearl automotive paint and black leather upholstery. It measures 168″ long and 45″ wide.

Artist Fred Bailey created it. Fred does it all; he is an artist, sculptor, welder, fabricator and more.

The Hot Rod Couch was for sale on eBay at a time for around $45,000.

Oh yes, and the lights work too!!!!

Free Poster Winner for April 2009

The April contest winner comes from New Tazewell, TN. They chose to win the “1932 Ford Victoria” artwork.

I was surprised when I found out that the same person who won this contest also won the January 2009 contest. I don’t think that has ever happen before.

Enter today for your chance to win some horsepower for your walls!

KillaCycle Video

I saw this video today and it is really something to see. The KillaCycle is the world’s quickest electric bike and on their website it states, “It is the quickest electric vehicle of any kind in the quarter mile”.

The power and the speed of this bike is one thing but what else is interesting is the silence. Being electric it doesn’t make any noise as it waits for the light, which makes for a usual scene for a dragstrip.

TATA Nano in Sunshine Yellow

This is a new color version of the custom TATA Nano I did earlier.

I posted the custom Nano artwork images in my Flickr account and someone commented that they were planning on buying one and was curious to see how the custom black/orange version would look in sunshine yellow instead of the orange. Sunshine yellow is one of the Nano’s factory colors.

In the majority of my artwork I use many different fades, so changing colors is not so easy. But on the Nano artwork I only used two fades to make up the orange, which made changing the colors easier.

That being the case, I did one up for them to see. What do you like best, the sunshine yellow version or the orange version?

New Design for AutomotiveArtists.com

greg-automotiveartists

See the new design I launched for AutomotiveArtists.com this week. This is something I have been working on for the last couple of months.

Not only does the site have a new look with better navigation but it also has new features, which include an image upload for artist’s news stories, enhanced site search, and improved Artists Index. Using WordPress for this new site allows for user’s comments to be posted.

One of the biggest improvements for me is to be able to make updates daily, depending on Artist’s submission, instead of weekly as done previously. Updates can be subscribed to by email or by RSS feed.

Pages also now have popular share options at the bottom of each page, allowing users the ability to quickly and easily share pages on Digg, Yahoo Buzz, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, and more.

Below are a few images to show you how the site has evolved over the years. I remember when I started this site; I use to manually do all the updates on pages in plain HTML.

I would have to say about 80% of the work on this new site was moving the content from the old site over into the new one. Now since I have this project completed I can get back to doing my automotive artwork.
